We had the privilege of delving into the creative mind behind saveHXPE's music in this exclusive interview, gaining insights into their artistic process, muses, future endeavors, and delving deep into his self-taught practices, and advice to aspiring creatives.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised amidst the majestic landscapes of Lesotho, a place that deeply influences my music and artistic identity.


What inspired you to pursue a career in music...how did your journey begin, and how has it shaped your identity as saveHXPE?

My journey in music began at the age of 9 when my mom gifted me my first computer, igniting my curiosity and creativity. I quickly gravitated towards beat-making and found solace in the mesmerizing world of rhythm and melody. This newfound passion eventually shaped my destiny, leading me to pursue a career in music as saveHXPE.


Did you have any childhood creative endeavors that fueled or led to your current career?

The gift of my first computer from my mom was a pivotal moment in my childhood that fueled my creative endeavors and ultimately led me to pursue a career in music.


What has been your favorite project to work on so far?

Each project holds a special place in my heart, but "still deciding" stands out as a memorable endeavor. Its thought-provoking themes and relatable narratives resonated deeply with audiences worldwide.

How do you approach the songwriting process? Are there specific themes or emotions you aim to convey in your music?

My songwriting process is deeply personal, often rooted in authentic storytelling and addressing important social issues. I aim to convey themes of resilience, empowerment, and introspection through my music.


What role does collaboration play in your work? Are there any artists or producers you dream of collaborating with in the future?

Collaboration is essential to my artistic journey. I've been fortunate to work with talented artists and producers who have enriched my sound. In the future, I dream of collaborating with visionaries like Kendrick Lamar, WondaGurl, Future, The Alchemist, and many others I didn’t mention.


Can you share a memorable experience or turning point that solidified your passion for music?

A turning point in my passion for music was when I released my debut EP in 2022 and received a remarkable co-sign from Erykah Badu. Her validation reaffirmed my dedication to music and propelled me further into the spotlight.


How would you describe your musical style and the genres that influence your work?

My music is a fusion of modern sounds and authentic storytelling, influenced by genres like hip-hop, soul, and R&B. I strive to create a captivating blend that resonates with listeners on a profound level.


Could you walk us through your creative process when composing or producing a new piece?

My creative process begins with introspection and drawing inspiration from personal experiences and social issues. I then translate these emotions into music, experimenting with beats and melodies until the piece feels authentic and compelling.


What challenges have you faced as a young musician, and how did you overcome them?

As a young musician, I've faced challenges such as navigating the industry and staying true to my artistic vision. However, through perseverance and a strong support system, I've overcome these obstacles and continued to evolve as an artist.


Are there specific artists or bands that have had a significant impact on your musical development?

Artists like J. Cole, Lauryn Hill, and Nas have had a profound impact on my musical development, inspiring me to push boundaries and strive for excellence in my craft.


Can you share insights into any upcoming projects or collaborations that your fans can look forward to?

I have exciting projects in the works, including collaborations with talented artists and producers. Stay tuned for new music and immersive experiences that continue to push the boundaries of creativity.


What themes or messages are central in your work?

Central themes in my work include empowerment, social justice, and self-discovery. I aim to shed light on important issues while inspiring positive change through my music.


How do you overcome creative blocks?

I overcome creative blocks by taking breaks, seeking inspiration from various sources, and collaborating with other creatives. Sometimes, stepping away from the music allows fresh perspectives to emerge.


What advice would you give someone starting off in Music?

For aspiring musicians starting their journey, my advice is to stay true to yourself, hone your craft, and never stop pushing boundaries. Surround yourself with a supportive community, and never underestimate the power of perseverance and passion.
